Defining Progress in Obesity Solutions through Structural Changes

The October 25 workshop will explore strategies for defining progress in obesity solutions through structural changes.

The Roundtable on Obesity Solutions will convene for a one-day virtual workshop on Tuesday, October 25 (10 AM-3 PM ET) titled “Defining Progress in Obesity Solutions through Structural Changes.” This workshop on Defining Progress in Obesity Solutions through Structural Changes will explore methods to assess progress in addressing the structural drivers of obesity (namely structural racism, biased mental models and social norms, and health communication) within different systems: political and economic systems, environmental systems, health care systems, and sociocultural systems. After setting the stage in examining the strengths and limitations of using BMI as a measure of success, invited speakers that work in these systems will discuss the innovative approaches and performance indicators they utilize to measure progress in obesity interventions.
