About the Event: Decentralized Finance (DeFi) was the premise of Bitcoin when its creator(s) unveiled the benchmark blockchain and cryptocurrency in 2009. Fast forward to today and DeFi is experiencing a revival as the fastest growing sector in the blockchain space. More than anything, DeFi protocols offer a way to build financial products with global distribution, playing an important role in the evolution of finance and capital markets. To date there are over $8.5 billion of total value locked in DeFi projects (up from less than a billion prior to 2019); promising disintermediation of legacy finance models such as: lending, borrowing, structuring derivative products, buying and selling of securities through decentralized open-source networks. As a 25 year operating exec in Silicon Valley, he has raised over $50 million in venture capital for Open Source startups and over $200M in ICO capital.
