What is the current state of the grassroots creative scene in Singapore?How have creative communities and spaces impacted Singapore?What would a more flourishing creative ecosystem look like, and how can we foster more ground-up spaces, communitites, and initiatives? Welcome to DEEP CUTS, a two-day conference for the creative community in Singapore. We aim to facilitate a deeper, collective examination into the current state and future of the local creative grassroots community through a series of thought-provoking panel discussions, roundtables, workshops, performances, and other activities. We invite artists, creative and cultural practitioners, and supporters of the local arts scene to join us as we explore a wide-range of issues and ideas relevant to a variety of communities, including the music and nightlife scene, the visual arts scene, the street art community, the punk scene, the dance and movement community, and many others. We are primarily concerned with topics related to identity, space, community, and the future: who is the creative grassroots community, and what values and ideas shape it; what is the value of independent creative spaces, and how can we continue fostering them; how are communities built and sustained over time; and what kind of future do we aspire towards.
