The Art AnnexPawtucket, RI
Saturday, Mar 7 from 12 pm to 4 pm
Overview

Learn how to make your own handmade decorative box from scratch!

Join seasoned boxmaker, Deborah McCarthy, on Saturday March 7th, from 12-4pm, to learn how to make your own handmade decorative box: from top to bottom, including the lid and closure.

You'll start by selecting from a variety of decorative handmade papers, courtesy of Paper Connection. Then, you will learn how to plan, measure, cut, and wrap your box for a unique design. At the end of the workshop, each student will go home with a finished box and the skills to make more on their own!

All materials and papers will be supplied.

If you have any questions, please write to paperconnection1@gmail.com or call Monday - Thursday (401)454-1436.

About the instructor:

Deborah McCarthy is a self taught boxmaker, who has gained her knowledge and skills through decades of hands on experience. Her first real job, at the age of sixteen, was in a box-making factory. Since then, she has gained a lifetime of experience as a boxmaker, including 17 years working at Portfolio Box, formerly on Valley Street in Providence, RI. She is now retired, but continues to make beautiful boxes with handmade paper.
