Death Valley Celebration and Gathering

Hello, supporters of the Fund for People in Parks!

We are delighted to announce that construction is about to commence on the Fund's largest project to date: the restoration and enhancement of Dantes View in Death Valley National Park.

You are invited to visit the project with us, Fund Advisory Committee members, the National Park Service, and the Death Valley Natural History Association this April.

April is high season for Death Valley, so we wanted to inform you of the dates so you can make arrangements as soon as possible. The Dantes View visit will take place in the middle of the day on April 10th so that some attendees may make it a day-trip. Those planning to overnight must arrange their own accommodations and are encouraged to make it a multi-day visit.

The preliminary plan is as follows:

• Sunday/Monday, April 8-9 - touring and field trips for those arriving early
• Tuesday, April 10, 11:00am-12:30pm - Dantes View gathering
• Tuesday, April 10, 5:30-7:30pm - reception, dinner, sunset, general revelry
• Wednesday/Thursday, April 11-12 - other possible activities: special tours, visit Racetrack Playa or other primary destinations, star-gazing, etc. Let us know where you'd like to go and we'll do our best to make it happen.

Initial scoping indicates that rooms at Furnace Creek Inn, Furnace Creek Ranch, and Stovepipe Wells range from $144-500 per night and campgrounds range from $14-36/night. Reservations are filling fast, so don't delay in making arrangements!
