The name is confusing. What does it mean?

Death/End of Life Doulas and Planners have tried different names to be more catchy. There is Death Over Dinner, Death Over Drinks, Death Over Drafts.  In the spirit of community, we named this Death (in) Community, not Death (instead of) Community.

How is this different from a Death Cafe?

Death Cafes are group led discussions. While there are facilitators, there is no agenda. This workshop will have an agenda - a lighthearted and small step approach to end of life planning. If you’re looking for a Death Cafe, try www.deathcafe.com.

What is this not?

This event is not a Death Cafe, not therapy, nor is it a place for active grief.

Who’s the target audience for this event?

Accepted Answer

Anyone aware of their mortality. We’re all going to die - some of us want to face it more head on than others. We used to know how to die before healthcare extended our lives. So let's rebuild our death awareness in ways that make it less scary and more doable.
