Death Cafe
Overview

Join us in person to discuss death without an agenda, facilitated by Alexis Hart

Join death care professional Alexis Hart for an open gathering where SJWC members and friends come together in a safe, welcoming space to share thoughts, questions, and stories about death over tea, treats, and good company.

Attend one or all of the Death Cafes at the Clubhouse this fall on Wedesday, September 9, Wednesday October 14, and Monday, November23. Death Cafe at SJWC is open to all, regardless of gender.

There’s no agenda, no pressure, and no expected outcome. Just honest conversation, supportive listening, and a chance to connect with others who are curious about life’s one certainty. Whether you’re new to the topic or have deep reflections to share, all are welcome!

The Death Cafe at SJWC is offered as a completely free event, in a respectful and confidential setting. There’s no intention to guide you toward any particular belief or action; just an invitation to explore, learn, and simply be present.

Come as you are. Bring your curiosity. Cake and conversation await.

Death Cafes occur around the world. People gather to eat cake, drink tea, and discuss death with the objective of increasing awareness of death and helping people make the most of their (finite) lives. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.
