Is this a grief support event?

Accepted Answer

No.  Grief support counseling is expressly prohibited by Death Cafe International's rules.   Rather, it is a conversation about a subject that most people don't ever talk about - death.

Question 2

You're not going to try to sell me a burial plot, are you?

Accepted Answer

No, but the participants come at random and it is possible  that you'll be seated at a table where there is a mortician.  Any professionals, whether they be morticians, grief counselors, death doulas, etc. are limited to talking about their personal thoughts on death.

Question 3

What happens if I can't make it exactly by 6:00?

Accepted Answer

Come when you can get there.  The atmosphere is very informal; it's like meeting up with a bunch of friends at your local coffee shop.

What happens if I absolutely hate it?

Leave whenever you want to.  The atmosphere is very informal; it's like meeting up with a bunch of friends at your local coffee shop.
