A small and intimate community event to courageously show up and face our inevitable mortality with tenderness and acceptance.

After a brief talk about death in our contemporary world, including where some of our traditions come from and what is becoming newly possible, we will engage in several brief writing prompts aimed to help us face our own mortality with courage and tenderness. The workshop closes with a grounding visualization. Additionally, an end of life resource list will be shared via email for those interested.

Founded in 2019,<a href="https://unionhalldenver.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> Union Hall</a> is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts exhibition space, with the mission of advancing opportunities for diverse, emerging artists and showcasing exhibitions while providing the community with accessible creative experiences. Union Hall was also created to be a multi-purpose, flexible space that welcomes interdisciplinary events of all kinds, including film screenings, live concerts, dance performances and more.T﻿his event was created to align with Union Hall's current art exhibition, One Foot in the Grave. One Foot in the Grave explores themes of the afterlife, with works that playfully celebrate human fallibility and our temporal lives' messy, unconventional beauty.

There are two entrances to the building equipped with power assist doors and all public areas are wheelchair accessible. Street parking is available along Wewatta Street. Paid public parking is located in the building garage on the corner of Wewatta &amp; 18th Street with wheelchair accessible spaces. Union Hall is located directly next to the Union Station train tracks, providing access to a variety of public transportation options including the bus, light rail, train, and ride shares.If you have trouble locating us on the day of the event call us at (720) 927-4033.You will be surrounded by artwork on display from the exhibition One Foot in the Grave. There are works displayed on walls and a video projection in a dark, back corner. There will be one floor installation aligned with a wall. No artwork or installations will limit physical movement. A preview of the exhibition is available on Union Hall's website at <a href="https://unionhalldenver.org/current" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">UnionHallDenver.org/current</a>. Lighting will be dim and spotlights are placed on the artwork. Lighting can be adjusted upon request. Seats will be available for all participants. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Our doors will be closed due to the small, intimate, and private nature of this event. Participants are welcome to enter and exit the space as needed.
