Join us for a virtual panel discussion on Corky Lee's legacy and a sneak preview of a new film about Corky by producer Curtis Chin!

The 1882 Foundation, Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), and DC Public Library invite you to a livestreamed panel discussion with leading photojournalists and the filmmakers of the new short documentary &quot;Dear Corky&quot; about Corky Lee&#x27;s legacy as an AAPI artist with broad connections across communities.This discussion will be preceded by a pre-premiere screening of “Dear Corky,” by the producer Curtis Chin, on the “undisputed, unofficial Asian American photographic laureate” Corky Lee.The screening will be offered in person only at the newly renovated MLK Library auditorium. After the film, the panel discussion will be held in person and livestreamed to virtual attendees.May 10th marks the anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. Corky made annual visits to Promontory Point to photograph the descendants of Chinese workers excluded from the iconic &quot;Champagne Photo,&quot; taken on May 10, 1869, upon the railroad&#x27;s completion.
