“Dear Climate” Creative Writing Intensive

Siren Arts generates and supports performance, activities and dialogue, which examine how arts practice can ignite an awakening around complex environmental and social issues related to climate change and climate justice.   We use artistic approaches, such as live performance and participative dialogue, to create platforms for action to address the urgent needs of the local and global climate and environmental justice movements. The primary focus is to foment poetic responses to the climate challenges of our times through interactive theatrical experiences that inspire greater understanding, empathy and action.Besides live public performances, we work in partnership with other artists and organizations (often non-arts organizations) to create collaborative trans-national networks of ‘artivists’ and change makers while staying rooted in local examination of artistic and cultural practice, climate change science and civic engagement in South Florida.

Presented by Siren Arts in collaboration with FUNDarte's Climakaze Miami 2018 and the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, this immersive creative writing experience leads participants through a wild and intimate dialogue with our climate.
Originally conceived by Una Chaudhuri and collaborators at NYU’s Tisch School, the Dear Climate project (www.dearclimate.net) is a provocative written and graphic conversation with our planet’s climate.  Siren Arts is embracing their dialogic effort by hosting this creative writing intensive that generates conversations and writing from Miami to our biosphere.  
This writing intensive is lead by Elizabeth Doud and Neil de la Flor, and open to all climate-concerned folks free of charge in and around the grounds of the garden. On Sunday, April 22 / 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at The Miami Beach Botanical Garden (free with registration required).
Lunch and snacks included for a fee of $5.   Writing supplies are provided, but recommend participants bring a notebook and their favorite writing instrument.  And a hat, as we will be working in and around the botanical garden.
