What should I expect from this event?

We welcome familiar faces and newcomers of the Darden network to spend the afternoon with us to learn directly from cross-industry experts in tech and AI and connect with fellow innovators in a one-of-a-kind setting overlooking the nation's capital at Sands Family Grounds.

Will refreshments be provided?

Accepted Answer

Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the day, followed by hors d'oeuvres and alcoholic beverages during the networking reception. Please indicate any dietary restrictions when ordering your ticket.

Question 3

Do I need to join for the whole event?

Accepted Answer

You're welcome to join us for whichever parts of the event your schedule allows but we ask that you stay for entire sessions to reduce distractions. The event agenda will be updated on Eventbrite and the DC Tech Connect webpage (www.darden.virginia.edu/batten-institute/technology/dc-tech-connect)

Is there parking or a Metro stop at Sands Family Grounds?

There is a paid parking garage for UVA Darden Sands Family Grounds located on Wilson
Blvd. The garage entrance is to the left of the building entrance. We are not able to validate parking for attendees. The Rosslyn Metro stop is also just a 2 min walk away.

Question 5

What hotels do you recommend nearby?

There is a Le Méridien, Hyatt Centric and Residence Inn by Marriott all within walking distance to Sands Family Grounds.

Question 6

Will transportation be provided to and from Charlottesville?

Accepted Answer

A bus will be provided for students based in Charlottesville to attend DC Tech Connect. It will leave Darden's Goodwin Family Grounds around 11:30am and return the same day around 10:00pm. Space is limited. Indicate your interest after reserving your event ticket.

Is there a hackathon?

Accepted Answer

A hackathon is tentatively being planning for the morning of November 13th from 8:00am-2:00pm. All UVA graduate students are welcome to participate and lunch will be provided. Please indicate your interest in the competition after reserving your event ticket.
