Credential Registry Learn and Build Summit: Putting Ideas into Action

Credential Engine is a non-profit whose mission is to create credential transparency, reveal the credential marketplace, increase credential literacy, and empower everyone to make more informed decisions about credentials and their value.Credential Engine provides a suite of web-based services that creates for the first time a centralized Credential Registry to house up-to-date information about all credentials, a common description language to enable credential comparability, and a platform to support customized applications to search and retrieve information about credentials.Learning Tapestry provides innovation and infrastructure solutions to support learners and educators. We solve hard problems in complex digital learning environments.Learning Tapestry builds and operates infrastructure components with new capabilities on top of existing education systems. These components help provide snap-in digital content search and analytics functions in learning environments. These resources are released as open source to provide low-cost and modifiable software to plug into today’s content and learning management systems.

Credential Engine and Learning Tapestry

In a vast and complex credential marketplace, access to clear and comprehensive data can make all the difference. To generate discussion and development of innovative tools and resources that will power the education and workforce landscape into the next century, Credential Engine and Learning Tapestry are teaming up to host a two-day event in Washington D.C. this December. 
This invite-only event will bring together leaders and experts in education, technology, workforce development, and research to cover a broad range of topics, including:
<UL>
<LI>Establish a shared vision of what innovations in Indiana are possible with current and potential Credential Registry data and other existing data sources (i.e. labor market information).</LI>
<LI>Prototype and demonstrate applications that serve a variety of Indiana users including distance learners, students, youth, small businesses, and veterans.</LI>
<LI>Identify current and future user needs and generate ideas for new applications that can meet those needs.</LI>
<LI>Identify potential gaps in the Credential Registry for Indiana data needed to build apps that meet user needs.</LI>
<LI>Establish a community of vendors, credentialing bodies, and other strategic partners in Indiana that will continue to collaborate to identify application solutions to meet user needs and accelerate the publishing of credential data to the Registry.</LI>
<LI>Identify next steps for supporting and growing the community of practitioners building applications with Indiana data and publishing data to expand the Credential Registry.</LI>
</UL>
