About this event

DC Community Wealth Building - Regular Convenings

IMPORTANT NOTE: Virtual meetings are on 1st Fridays, and all other meeting days are In-Person. Location will be sent out to all who RSVP (always an accessible public space in DC - eg. library)

We’re gathering to 1) organize and map the cooperative and solidarity economy to build an ecosystem of education and democratic culture and 2) working with DC Councilmember Zachary Parkers office to build legislation and ground the city’s economic development strategy in strengthening cooperation between small, local, and co-op businesses.

These gatherings also serve as a space for brainstorming sessions, policy drafting, and planning for significant events like the Community Wealth Building Day.

The meetings provide an opportunity for outreach and education, with the creation of educational materials to spread awareness about community wealth building. Participants collaborate with various stakeholders, map existing resources, and advocate for cooperative models, all aimed at creating a more equitable local economy. The discussions held and the decisions made during these meetings play a crucial role in shaping the cooperative ecosystem of the DC region.
