DAVE WELD

⭐ Veteran blues musician Dave Weld grew up in Chicago, and he returned to play the blues after a brief detour out west after high school. Back in Chicago in the 1970s, he played with Hound Dog Taylor bandmates Brewer Philips and Ted Harvey. He then played with Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang which featured Chico Chism, Lafayette Gilbert, Hubert Sumlin, Detroit Junior. But it was meeting J. B. Hutto that changed his life. He then met Little Ed and James Young, and they started the band "Little Ed and the Blues Imperials."

In 1988, Weld started his own band "Dave Weld and the Imperial Flames" which featured the most authenic seasoned blues veterans in Chicago such as Bernard Reed, Leo Davis, Daryl Mahon, Donny Nichilo, Mike Scharf, Vernon Rogers and Ted Harvey.

Presently, Weld is one of the few real innovators in the blues realm of today.
