Event description

Description

Data is the most abundant byproduct of contemporary life, with humankind generating more than 50 million laptops-worth of data daily. Our exhibition, DATAISM brings together artists in the tristate region who use existing and self generated data sets in their work to create insightful and provokative pieces.

They explore various spheres of contemporary life and experience, from interpersonal relationships to climate change, consumerism, social media, financial markets, privacy and surveillance. The participating artists have utilizing mediums including sculptural, drawn and digital works. Many of the artists seek to reclaim the mining and interpretation of data as an illuminating and empowering cultural practice.

Presented by ArtsWestchester in collaboration with the Westchester Community College Center for Digital Art with support by the NEA, Dataism is on view from Nov. 3 – Jan. 25, 2020.
