Joined-up Data Alliance

Open Data Standards Day is a pre-event of the <A HREF="http://opendatacon.org/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">International Open Data Conference</A> that provides a space for groups that are developing and implementing technical standards for open data to work on specific standards, join the dots between different efforts, and reflect on shared challenges and opportunities.

1. Metadata standards for open data
There is growing consensus that for open data to become properly discoverable, accessible and usable across use-cases and domains a common approach to metadata is required. Best practices and standards dealing with cataloguing, quality and usage are emerging, including the <A HREF="https://www.w3.org/TR/dwbp/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">W3C Data on the Web Best Practices</A>. Can we agree on a common approach? Facilitated by Jose Luis Marin, Deirdre Lee of <A HREF="https://derilinx.com/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Derilinx</A>, and Beata Lisowska of <A HREF="http://devinit.org/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Development Initiatives</A>. 
2. Global Beneficial Ownership Register
Grand corruption is a networked problem; to fight it we need a networked solution, and nowhere is this more true than who controls and benefits from companies. The <A HREF="https://blog.opencorporates.com/2016/04/04/a-beneficial-ownership-register-for-the-world-the-first-steps/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Global Beneficial Ownership Register</A> will tackle this, by collecting and linking together beneficial ownership datasets and self-disclosed corporate data. In this interactive session we will collaborate on specific use cases and data needs by key users of the register. The session will also test our assumptions on what the register needs to deliver to provide the transparency needed to reduce fraud and corruption. If you’re a procurement officer, business, NGO or investigative journalist - we would love to have you there. 3. Organization identifiers 
This new initiative to create a common platform and methodology for organisation identifiers is backed by the <A HREF="http://www.aidtransparency.net/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">International Aid Transparency Initiative</A>, <A HREF="http://open-contracting.org/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Open Contracting</A>, <A HREF="http://www.resourcegovernance.org/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Natural Resource Governance Institute</A>, <A HREF="http://openag.io/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">OpenAg</A> and <A HREF="http://www.threesixtygiving.org/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">360 Giving</A>. Open Data Services will present a minimal viable product. How do make this usable across a range of use cases? Can we get buy-in from other initiatives that rely on globally unique identifiers? Facilitated by Open Data Services.
