Dash for Duchenne 2016

In 2008, Saij was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMDis the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed in childhood, affecting approximately 1 in every 3,500 live male births (about 20,000 new cases each year).DMD is a progressive muscle disorder for which there iscurrently no treatment or cure.Because the Duchenne gene is found on the X chromosome, it primarily affects boys; however, it occurs across all races and cultures. Duchenne results in loss of strength and muscle weakness, which leads to serious medical problems —  particularly issues relating to the heart and lungs. Young men with Duchenne typically stop walking in their teens and slowly lose muscle function in every part of their bodies, including the heart.Team Saij – Simply the Best is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to funding research that advances a cure for this deadly condition. Its origin was inspired by the love of a little boy and the decision of four family members to run the NYC marathon in 2010. The research currently being fundedwill benefit thousands of boys around the world with this condition.

TEAM SAIJ

Team Saij presents the 2nd Annual Dash for Duchenne on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Tilden Middle School in Rockville, MD.  This year's event will feature a D4D Relay. Team Saij’s goal is to create awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and to raise funds to accelerate a cure for this disease. 
 
D4D will provide our community with an opportunity to participate in the fight against DMD. 100% of the proceeds raised at this charitable event will support research. We hope you will join our team as we battle DMD and find a cure for all boys affected by this deadly disease.
 
This action-packed day will include music, activities, games, food, and fun for the whole family. Thank you for your involvement and for supporting all the Duchenne families on this journey.
