Task

Questions about AI — regardless its iteration, current or envisaged — are not principally about the technology. More fundamentally, they express a primordial impulse to understand the essential meaning of human intelligence within the context of the human “to be.” Although the shortage correlated with the motivation is a human one, or, more precisely, existential or ontological, its effects are not isolated in the human person. They also risk biasing AI development. Confusion about the essential meaning of human intelligence risks unconsciously swaying efforts to encode its basic constituents into suboptimal trajectories.
