Dancing Planet Productions produces contra dances with live music, weekly folk dance classes, and sound reinforcement services.   It is associated with World Music and Dance Institute at produces an international music and dance camp during the Labor Day Weekend.

Glen Echo Park

W﻿elcome to the Dancing Planet pop-up contra dance series at Glen Echo Park. These dances will be primarily Contra Dances, but we will be adding in other dance forms, such as English country dance, square dance, Scandinavian dance, Balkan dance, and Balfolk. Dance lesson at 2:30pm followed by the dance with live music. Melissa Chatham and Caroline Barnes will be calling to the music of Handspring (Alexander Mitchell-fiddle, Owen Morrison-guitar, and Carrie Rose-flute). E﻿xtra spice program at the break: If you're brand new, or if you've danced for years, there is a way to take your dance game to the next level. Learn how to embellish your groove safely, while maximizing the fun factor.R﻿ound up your crew, bring a picnic lunch or dinner, and make a day of it.M﻿asks (N95/KN95 or equivalent) are required. Vaccinations/boosters are recommended. We also suggest taking a rapid antigen test before attending. No refunds.
