An all-levels movement class weaving together elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with dance and music

The Foundry

In this class, we will inspire changes in thoughts and feelings through moving the body with music and draw upon foundational concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Imagine: you are experiencing a low mood or maybe you are anxious. Now, tell yourself: feel better! What happens? Nothing. Instead, imagine your favorite music reverberating through the room and you begin to move your body to the sound. How do you feel? Maybe you feel energized by the percussion or soothed by the lyricism of the music. Perhaps your body responds to the music, and you feel the emotions moving through you and your thoughts shifting. Now ask yourself: how do you feel? The class will blend movement, music, meditation, breathing techniques, writing and theory drawn from CBT with the goal of helping participants to break unhelpful thought patterns through finding joy and release through movement.

For this last class in the series, PLEASE BRING HEADPHONES! We will be dancing to our own unique playlists. Additionally, the class will close with a special sound bath treat.
