Dance In Public Spaces: Snake Path

"This 700-foot-long snake walkway spans the grounds of Austin's Mexican American Cultural Center. The pavers are arranged in an alternating bright and dark pattern, providing a dynamic counterpoint to the building’s monochromatic architecture. Huerta designed the pavers based upon the markings of the non-poisonous Mexican milk snake. This species is native to Mexico and Texas and embodies the spirit of the center by celebrating the bridging of Mexican and American cultures." -Public Art Archive
