DANCE EXHIBIT

Lauren Simpson Danceis a San Francisco-based performance company whose work bridges the live arts and the visual arts worlds. Lauren Simpson is currently in residence at ODC Theater from 2018-2021. Her work has been presented at ODC Theater, De Young Museum, and Counterpulse Theater. Recent touring and teaching residencies have included University of Utah, University of Montana, Lion’s Jaw Festival in Boston and University of Nebraska-Lincoln. For the past five years she and collaborator Jenny Stulberg created Still Life Dances, a series of dances based on 19th century still life pantings. These works were nominated for two Izzie Awards in 2016. They were artists in residence in the CounterPulse Edge Residency Program, the Shawl-Anderson Dance Center AIR program, the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company's CHIME Program, and the FACT/SF's resident JUMP Choreography Program. Lauren’s work has been supported by the San Francisco Arts Commission, Zellerbach Family Foundation, Dancers Group, and ODC Theater. For several years, Lauren danced professionally for MacArthur Genius Artist and Choreographer Liz Lerman and Risa Jaroslow.

<A HREF="https://www.laurensimpsondance.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lauren Simpson Dance</A> and <A HREF="http://minnesotastreetproject.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Minnesota Street Project</A> co-present Dance Exhibit, a multidimensional arts experience centered around a physical and embodied exploration of the Atrium space and the sculptures contained within. Beginning with beverages, snacks, and socializing, audiences will experience artworks by <A HREF="https://www.danahemenway.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dana Hemenway</A> and <A HREF="http://brionnudarosch.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brion Nuda Rosch</A>. The evening gradually moves from gallery environment into live performance with sound by Shanna Sordahl and lighting by Jack Beuttler. Following the performances will be a lecture/discussion led by some of the Bay Area’s most talented thought leaders and artists.
Arrive around 7:30PM for snacks and drinks for purchase from restaurant <A HREF="https://www.besharamrestaurant.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Besharam</A>. Performance begins at approximately 7:45PM.
