Kepler's Literary Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization dedicated to enriching the community through literary and cultural programs. We produce over 150 programs each year bringing celebrated writers, artists, and original thinkers to engage with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.Your ticket purchases and donations support our ability to provide outstanding literary programming for the readers and writers in our community. It also enables us to bring exceptional writers to underserved schools, put books in the hands of children who often don't have books at home, and offer free admission to students and their teachers to our literary events.

Join us for an event with renowned chronicler of tech culture, Dan Lyons, now in conversation with Peninsula journalist Danny Acosta. In his new book Lab Rats: How Silicon Valley Made Work Miserable for the Rest of Us, the acclaimed reporter and Silicon Valley show writer searches for answers. With swift humor and a healthy skepticism, Lyons turns tech culture on its head, revealing some of the best and the worst. 
As Lyons shared in his bestselling book Disrupted: My Misadventure in the Start-Up Bubble, the frontier world of tech is rife with fad-chasing venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and "wantrapreneurs," bloggers and brogrammers, social climbers and sometimes sociopaths. While the field thickens with aspirants, demands on employees grow more intense, and the rewards ever more meager.
Traveling to workplaces across America, Lyons finds that the social contract between employee and employer is broken. Ultimately, the powerhouse former Forbes editor offers a vision for what the workplace could be: “an approach to work and business that puts people first, profitably [that] serves customers, and makes the world a little bit better in the process.”

Joining Lyons in conversation to shine a light on just how relevant this material is across the Peninsula, KLF welcomes journalist and local wise-cracker Danny Acosta to the stage. Danny is a veteran writer, producer, and a regular contributor to TheSixFifty, who has spent his professional life steeped in the concerns of the SF Bay Area. From a working-class background, he grew up within an eight-block radius of San Francisco’s Mission District, and graduated with his B.A. as a first-generation college student. Danny has built an extensive portfolio of Bay-Area focused journalism—with a particular passion for MMA fighting. His byline has reached MAXIM, the San Jose Mercury News, the San Francisco Examiner, and more, covering topics from prizefighting to hip-hop, film to comedy, pro-wrestling to culture and politics. His production credits include radio contributions, YouTube viral videos, on-camera interviews, and stand up comedy.
