About Cyber Trends

Now in its fourth year, Cyber Trends draws on the experience of industry practitioners, government representatives, and researchers to examine the current trends and what is on the horizon for the cybersecurity ecosystem, across the UK and the world.

The event provides a cognitive and physical space to help policymakers, corporate leaders, and the community navigate technology and policy trends and also provides an opportunity to engage in a conversation with a broad group of stakeholders.

The event is an opportunity for subject matter experts to amplify their voices in multi-disciplinary and international conversations and look ahead to key trends shaping the business, technical, and policy communities.

Audience

The event is hosted by GCA and the City of London Police. It is kindly supported by the Rt Hon the Lord Mayor of the City of London, our headlining sponsor, Verizon, and our media partner, The Cipher Brief.

It is attended by 250-350 government, law enforcement, cybersecurity, and industry leaders, primarily from the UK and the EU.

There will be media and press coverage of the event.

Plenary Agenda (postponed, date to be determined)

The agenda features keynote speakers and a series of three debates with subject matter experts focusing on the identification of current cyber trends in three broad areas:

Implementing Anti-Cybercrime Operations and Capabilities

This panel will focus on practical and proven examples in the implementation of operational capabilities, such as law enforcement and industry-driven cybercrime operational interventions, law enforcement training best practices, and the need for international communities to coordinate and collaborate for effective cybercrime capacity-building.

Managing the Weakest Link: Supply-Chain Threats and Their Management

This panel will discuss the latest threat trends disrupting the security of the supply chain, with a focus on small businesses; it will try to manage the gap between cybersecurity practitioners, procurement officers, and decision-makers and the trends that will reshape the security of the supply chain in the next five years.

Next Generation Internet: How to Change the Status Quo?

This panel will examine how to move from passive to active defence, focusing on the practical techniques and collaborative efforts that can be adopted to prepare for the challenges of tomorrow's internet, from smart cities and IoT to AI-backed e-crime.

Additionally, as an optional morning session (8:30 am – 12:00 pm), there will be instructional and practical workshops on two key GCA projects:

DMARC (a domain-based email authentication protocol): one of the most efficient tools against phishing, spam, and business email compromise (BEC) attacks

The GCA Cybersecurity Toolkit for Small Business: a set of free tools to let your business meet internationally accepted cybersecurity standards, including those set by the Center for Internet Security Controls

Please note that workshop registration is separate from the plenary session. You may attend a workshop and the plenary session but you are required to register for both. Also note that since the workshops will take place at the same time, you will only be able to register for one.
