Event description

Description

The Cyber Simulator Showcase is a half-day event (9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) that demonstrates tools and methods developed at the Software Engineering Institute for organizations to improve the performance of their cybersecurity operators and teams.

The Cyber Workforce Development Directorate at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute has more than 20 years of experience working with U.S. Federal civilian and DoD organizations. Now, we’re sharing these tools with you, the members of the Federal government. In the past year, we’ve undertaken a significant effort to “open source” as many of our tools as possible, including some fully-configured, “drop-in” virtual machines.

The tools we develop deliver hands-on cyber training using live network nodes, live network traffic, and live attack and defense scenarios. They also use real traffic and effects to put cybersecurity personnel in “hands-on” situations so they can learn how to carry out real-time responses to cyber events.

Using our tools, training can take place as group exercises, as force-on-force scenarios, or as on-demand, independent learning labs. Our platforms allow users to access the training environment from their normal desktop systems without any risk to the operational network, including endangering it through the use of RDP proxies and virtualized environments. Come to the Cyber Simulator Showcase to see how the tools work, and take home software you can use.

A special, classified briefing is available to appropriately cleared personnel on the morning of the event. If you’re interested in attending, select the check box on the RSVP/registration form to receive more information.
