CYANOTYPE 201
In Cyanotype 201, students have space to dive deeper into their print-making practice.
3-week | 6-8:30PM | Tuesdays, April 28 through May 12
Each session covers a lesson relevant to the cyanotype process. This includes how to edit photos for larger negatives, print on various surfaces, tone, and troubleshoot. Participants will spend their time experimenting and will build each week to create several works per class. The goal is to leave the course with a holistic understanding of cyanotype printmaking!
Cyanotype 201 is designed for those who have taken a cyanotype course at TPF, or have experience with the medium, and want to explore it in more depth.
Week 1: Editing Cyanotype Negatives & Editing Large Negatives
Week 2: Larger Scale Cyanotypes + Fabric
Week 3: Toning
__
Praise Fuller (b. Houston, Texas) is a New York-based, self-taught artist, poet, and educator with a practice spanning printmaking, installation, and mixed media with a central focus on the cyanotype process. Fuller’s work emerges from historical analysis and introspection, exploring what lies beyond the constraints of family, the church, trauma, and the cultural realities of the South. These introspections are interwoven with the concept of “rememory,” a term borrowed from Toni Morrison, which reflects how memory exists beyond, or even escapes, the individual mind by inhabiting objects, places, and communities.
