Currituck 4-H Poultry Show

Attention all poultry enthusiasts! Currituck County 4-H is thrilled to announce the much-awaited Poultry Show, scheduled to take place on September 27, 2024. Mark your calendars and join us for a day filled with feathered fun, friendly competition, and creative expression. Whether you're a seasoned poultry expert or a budding artist, the Currituck County 4-H Poultry Show welcomes participants of all ages and backgrounds.

This year's show will feature an array of exciting activities and competitions for youth of all ages, highlighting the beauty and diversity of poultry.

Bird Divisions:

  • 1: Standard Laying Hens: Showcase your favorite hen of any breed
  • 2: Bantam Hens: Bring forth your prized Bantam hen
  • 3: Roosters: Any breed, standard or Bantam
  • 4: Breed - Buff Orpington Hen*

Note: Youth who wish to participate in the Buff Orpington Breed Division must pre-register, pay, and pick up their two chicks from the Currituck Extension office on June 13. Use the link: 2024bufforpingtonchicks.eventbrite.com to register.

Educational Contests:

Educational Poster Contest: Participants are invited to create captivating posters on poultry-related content, educating and inspiring others about the fascinating world of poultry. Posters should be on standard-sized poster paper.

Expressive Art Contest: Let your creativity soar by submitting a photo, drawing, or painting. From whimsical sketches to stunning photographs, express your artistic vision and love for poultry.

Youth can showcase one bird in each division and submit one entry each in the Expressive Arts Contest and the Educational Poster Contest. Best of all, there are no registration fees for Divisions 1, 2, and 3, as well as the Poster and Expressive Arts Contests.

Age Categories:

  • Cloverbud (5-7 years)
  • Junior (8-10 years)
  • Intermediate (11-13 years)
  • Senior (14-18 years)
