About this event

  • 1 hour

Visit the Whipple museum to take part in a series of curious adventures.

Participants are invited to craft light rays on a twenty first century Newton themed orrery, sculpt with colour at 1/10th scale, explore the intricacies of RGB surface reflection and track the effect of sunlight on a light reactive sculptural work over the twelve hours of the Equinox.

Budding scientists in the room can also explore the evolutionary principles of radial and bilateral symmetry with mirrors - and consider what happens to starlight when we all close our eyes with the question of the orange in a light tight box.

An additional array of technical equipment facilitates a closer look at how we experience colour in our day to day lives. Suitable for all ages and interests. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

This ticketed opening is designed for those who need a quieter time to visit - please consider whether you could come to our drop-in sessions (no booking required) between 12.30 and 4.30 on Wednesday 29th or Thursday 30th instead. Please book a ticket for every person in your group.
