Save this date: April 30, 2016 6:00 pm. Come to a curated beer dinner April 30 with Giles Setzler as our guide. Giles is a young home brewer and would like to share with you his take on beer. Unusual commercial beers are being selected and the menu will be paired - four courses, four beers. The cost is $45.00 per person and limited to 36 seats in the Candle Room. . This will be your opportunity to learn more about four different styles of beer and terms like IBU, Saison, and the differences between ales and lager and more. Beer can be every bit as esoteric as wines and also a life long learning experience. This dinner will be one of a series leading up to our "Brew Your Own Fest." which will be held in late September. If you are curious about beer or would like to get to know other folks who brew their own in the community this will be a great way to meet them and share knowledge.
Here is the Menu for our Curated Beer Dinner April 30, 2016 in the Candle room. We have 36 seats available. It is your chance to taste some very rare and historic beers along with the usual.
Saison d’Erpe-Mere is a rare Flemish saison. The story behind this beer and brewery (Brewery De Glazen Toren) is quite nice. It’s basically the home brewer’s dream. A couple of guys started making beer, got some bigger equipment (just barely) and managed to create a beer that’s recognized world-wide as a leader in its category. Giles will tell you the full story.

The main feature will be Schenkria smoked beer. We Texans love everything smoked, now it is time to try a smoked beer from Bamberg. First mentioned in 1405 and now run by the Trum family in the 6th generation, it is the fountain of Original Schlenkerla Smokebeer. We hope tasting these beers will inspire your homebrew making.
1st course Wasatch Last One in Lager - brats and pretzel bun
2nd course - Saison D'Erpe Mere - Samosas (Indian potato fried dumpling with a dip) or Schlenkerla Cheese and brown bread
3rd course - Schenkerla Rauchbier Oak Smoke Dopple Bock - Bamburg Onion - a stuffed onion with smoked pork, bacon, a side of mashed potatoes and brown gravy or Schlenkerla Cheese and brown bread.
4th course Professor Fritz 1809 - choice of cherry pie or Rhubarb Crisp
