The MSU Center for Statistical Training and Consulting (CSTAT) is a professional service and research unit at Michigan State University. We collaborate on research projects and provide statistical services to MSU affiliated faculty, staff, and graduate students, and off-campus clients. CSTAT teaches workshops on a variety of statistical topics and software.CSTAT is a unit within MSU's Office of Research and Innovation.

<h3>R For Researchers: A Hands-on Introduction (In Person)</h3><h3>May 21, 2026 - Noon - 3:00 pm</h3>Presented by Dr. Sichao Wang, CSTAT - In Person - Giltner Hall Room 101This three-hour workshop is designed to provide new users with a clear path from their first lines of code to practical research applications. We will guide you through the Initial Data Analysis Framework, ensuring you develop a reproducible workflow from day one. Through guided, hands-on practice, we cover the entire process from the first time you open RStudio to producing your first set of visualizations. By the end of the session, you will have the "best-practice" toolkit needed to minimize common frustrations and kick off your own data projects with confidence.Please bring your own laptop.The session will cover:· Navigating R and RStudio· Understanding R data types and structures· Data manipulation essentials· Simple data visualizationPrerequisites: No prior knowledge of R or programming experience is necessary.
