On Saturday, June 22, 2024, join us on a walk for R.O.C.K.! In collaboration with the Crosstown Trail, Visitacion Valley Greenway, and Mission Blue, we're excited to invite you to our very first R.O.C.K.-a-Thon event.
NOTE: All participants must complete R.O.C.K.'s waiver before RSVPing. Please fill out this form if you have not already done so.
If you want to check the scenic Crosstown Trail off your list while spreading awareness about R.O.C.K. and our community open spaces, meet at the Sunrise Point Fishing Pier in Candlestick Point State Recreation Area (500 Hunters Point Expressway) at 8:30am; the walk will start promptly at 9:00am. Walk the full 17 miles or any length you choose, at your own pace or at the moderate group pace.
Highlights include the Visitacion Valley Greenway, where you'll see R.O.C.K. students and Greenway volunteers on their own R.O.C.K.-a-Thon mini hike, as well as trails through Glen Canyon and Laguna Honda, tiled staircases, the Presidio, and Baker Beach. Bring sunscreen, water, snacks, and lunch for our half-way stop. We expect to finish at the Lands End Lookout Visitor Center by late afternoon.
Note: Sunrise Point is approximately 15 minutes on foot from the park entrance. Because the parking lot at Candlestick closes at 7pm, we suggest you be dropped off at the park entrance, 500 Hunters Point Expressway, or arrive there by rideshare, taxi, or public transportation.
By RSVPing for R.O.C.K.-a-Thon, you are positively impacting the over 900 youth in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley. All event proceeds will go directly back to R.O.C.K. programs, like camping trips, outdoor education, and literacy support. You'll also receive a t-shirt and snacks!
Space is limited. These events typically fill up with a waitlist. If you register for a ticket and can no longer make it, please cancel your ticket to make space for another participant.
