What is Deep Roots ProjectDeep Roots Project (DRP) is a new Oak Park/River Forest non-profit group dedicated to supporting our community to grow their own food by transforming lawns treated with pesticides and chemicals to healthy, edible gardens. Our focus is to support our community by sharing the health benefits of locally grown organic food and educating on how to convert toxic lawns into bountiful, organic, edible, and/or native plant gardens. We are part of a growing national movement sponsored by the Midwest Pesticide Action Center to remove toxic chemicals from our homes, yards, water and food. Learn about the benefits of a toxic free lawn and take the "Healthy Lawn/Healthy Family" pledge.DRP is a growing community of organic gardeners! We want to help you grow beautiful healthy edible and native gardens, conserve water, save time, share land, share knowledge and lots more. Find out about resources, workshops, volunteer opportunities, sharing plans and benefits of becoming a DRP member.
