About this event

  • 1 day 7 hours
"A fantastic model that can be used anywhere, by anyone (suitably trained), to help alleviate the suffering of someone in immediate distress. Its simplicity is its secret weapon in making it an early intervention that is functional, memorable and repeatable." Review of the CRISIS Schema Workshop from former police officer, now providing support services for acting and retired officers

Intensive, practical three day workshop which teaches the CRISIS Schema technique.

Critical Incident Stress Integration & Support (CRISIS) is a person-centered and holistic approach to provide effective support for individuals after stressful & traumatic experiences. Training provides the knowledge and skills required to use the step by step process.

You will learn:

• What you might expect when someone has been in a crisis situation

• Theory and exercises on person-centered, non-judgmental communication for use in or out of a crisis situation.

• Theory and technique to help move the person from a distracted, reactive state to a more stable mental and emotional condition.

• What information may be needed to provide assistance about practical considerations and further support.

This technique will be useful to a wide variety of support personnel to help anyone who has experienced a potentially overwhelming incident/event or situation. It is equally applicable to victims of disasters, to crisis responders themselves, or in any peer support practices.

The psycho-social nature of the CRISIS Schema means that ordinary people can be trained as Facilitators, in order to help other people in their organizations or social groups, providing immediate and effective support. There is no prerequisite.

In short, a CRISIS Schema Facilitator provides a supportive and humane response to the emotional and psychological needs of a fellow human being when something bad has happened.
