About this event

  • 5 hours

Join us for an event dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for the rights of the Crimean Tatar people. This enriching gathering features a series of documentary screenings, engaging panel discussions, vibrant cultural performances, historical tours, and thought-provoking exhibitions.

We invite you to stand in solidarity, ensuring the voices of the past are never forgotten and committing to prevent such atrocities from recurring.

Organized by the Stand With Ukraine Foundation, this event delves into the history and plight of the Crimean Tatars. Under international law, Crimea belongs to Ukraine and is home to the indigenous Tatars. The narrative of the Crimean Tatar people is marked by enduring persecution and displacement, beginning with the oppression under the Russian Empire in the 18th century and persisting under the harsh conditions imposed by the current occupying Russian regime. This oppression intensified dramatically in 2014 when Russia invaded Ukraine and annexed Crimea, a stark echo of historical aggressions.

Through it all, the Crimean Tatars have continued their peaceful struggle for the right to live and thrive on their ancestral lands, aspiring to forge their own political and social destinies. This event not only commemorates the victims but also deepens our understanding of these tragic events and their ongoing relevance in today's world.
