People with Parkinson's  learn to use writing as a tool for self-care, self-awareness, self-expression, and brain health.

This workshop is intended to help participants access their inherent creativity and practice using writing as a tool for self-care, self-awareness, self-expression and brain health.This 6-week course will meet online for 90 minutes every Tuesday from 4-5:30pm PT / 7-8:30 pm ET starting March 26, 2024 through April 30, 2024.This workshop is intended to help participants to access their inherent creativity and practice using writing as a tool for self-care, self-awareness, self-expression, and brain health. Participants will do a wide variety of writing exercises to show them ways to keep their writing muscles conditioned and available when they need to pull them out of their self-care toolbox. These exercises are also designed to help them cultivate a deeper understanding and relationship with themselves. This workshop is a safe and open space to share ideas and connect with other creative souls with Parkinson’s.Please note that this workshop is designed specifically for people with Parkinson's and is limited to 20 people. Before registering, we kindly ask you to reflect on your availability and commitment to attend each class and actively engage in the discussions and activities. <h4>About the Instructor</h4>Rebecca Gifford is a writer, writing coach and workshop facilitator who loves helping people make writing a meaningful part of their life and growth. She's been writing professionally for 25 years as a marketing content developer, blogger, freelance journalist, and author of her memoir Cancer Happens: Coming of Age with Cancer. She facilitates her online workshops throughout North America and beyond, including as an instructor at the BC Brain Wellness Program and as a faculty member for the Parkinson's Pride Initiative at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Rebecca is an active member of the Parkinson's community; her husband was diagnosed with YOPD in 2017. Together they host the award-winning podcast When Life Gives You Parkinson's. She is a Parkinson's and care partner advocate and proud PD Avenger.
