Creative Writing Class

Creative Writing Class

Overview

Creative Writing - inspired by the wonderful Wendy Cope

What happens when we borrow a little inspiration from Wendy Cope and then let our imagination take over?

Join us for a fun, friendly creative writing workshop. led by The Story Sanctuary, where Wendy Cope's poems provide the spark, but the writing takes centre stage. Through a series of playful prompts and exercises, you'll discover fresh ideas, experiment with words, and see where your imagination leads you.

Whether you write regularly or haven't picked up a pen in years, you're warmly welcome. There's no pressure to read your work aloud—just plenty of encouragement, creativity, and the chance to enjoy writing in the beautiful surroundings of The Book and Bottle.

Come curious, leave with new ideas (and hopefully a few pages you're rather pleased with).

Tickets are £5 to cover The Story Sanctuary's time and expertise.

About The Story Sanctuary:

We’re two friends who love stories and art. Shashi is a voracious reader, writer and English teacher. Robyn is an author and illustrator of picture books, who teaches illustration, drawing and the theory of creativity at various universities. We have known each other since we played trumpet and tenor horn in the school band, and sat next to each other not doing very much work in Maths…

We’re also now two fully grown adults with busy lives who know how nourishing it can be when you make time for stories in your life. We want to share the luxury of time and space to sit with a book or a sketch pad and the opportunity to discover new places with new friends. It’s something that has been so important to our flourishing over the years, and we think it could be important for you too.

Join us at one of our events where you can carve out some time for yourself and your group to be creative and enjoy thoughtful, fun and bookish conversations. You do not have to have any experience to enjoy any of our activities. We’ll plan the day around you! And if you have a favourite book or artist and you’d like us to plan a bespoke event for you, just get in touch with us at storysanctuaryinfo@gmail.com
