Get inspired with a fireside chat between artist-entrepreneur Wasalu Jaco, professionally known as <a href="https://www.lupefiasco.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lupe Fiasco</a>, and recent Creative Arts Competition alum Anj Fayemi of <a href="https://www.rivet.app/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Rivet</a>. Stay for delicious food, and opportunities to both find new collaborators for your venture and get advice and information about the Competition that will give you an edge.D﻿oors open at 5 PM, Fireside Chat begins at 5:30 PM.A﻿BOUT THE CREATIVE ARTS COMPETITIONBuilding on MIT’s entrepreneurship legacy, the Creative Arts Competition supports arts-focused startups at the Institute, helping to turn students’ big ideas into successful business ventures.A year-long challenge, the Creative Arts Competition equips a cohort of semi-finalists, selected in Fall by application, with mentors and workshops to hone their products, business models, and pitches. Throughout the Fall, workshop events and Creative Cafés are open to the public, allowing potential collaborators to meet each other and venture-build in advance of the November 15th application deadline. The Competition culminates in a spring pitch event on April 4th, where finalists compete for a $15,000 prize to launch new solutions for the creative industries.COVID-19 HEALTH POLICYAs of March 14, masks are optional at MIT indoor events. Event attendees are encouraged to be mindful of others’ risk tolerance and respectful of their personal choices. All event attendees are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated and boosted. Tim Tickets are no longer required but may be used by visitors to gain access to the exterior doors. Visitors may also be escorted on campus by anyone with an active MIT ID.
