About the Akron Art MuseumThe Akron Art Museum, dedicated to enriching lives through modern and contemporary art, showcases regional, national and international art created since 1850. The museum’s collection is presented in a spectacular facility designed by Viennese architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au and includes over 5,000 works of art, with a strong focus on contemporary painting, sculpture and photography. Join the Museum’s very first session of the new Creative Aging Institute.

Join the Museum’s very first session of the new Creative Aging Institute. Designed exclusively for adults 55+, this program offers in-depth, quality art-making experiences taught by local artists. The eight-day class starts with a crash course in art history, then jumps into hands-on studio experiences, with each participant completing artwork as the class progresses. Upon course completion, participants will present a public art show and reception for their friends, family, and the public.This first series will focus on the art of photography. From learning about the museum’s photography collection to trying traditional and non-traditional photography techniques, participants will leave with a deep knowledge of this exciting art-making process. The series is sequential and participants should attend all eight sessions. FREE.
