Creative Aging: For the Future

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is celebrating 25 years in the Marcia and John Price Museum building with a special exhibition, For the Future: Collecting at the UMFA 2001-2026. Museums like the Utah Museum of Fine Arts develop their collections deliberately, strategically, and gradually over time. The UMFA’s extensive collection represents a remarkable range of global artistic expression that is unique in our region. The Museum is the only institution in the state that collects, exhibits, interprets, and cares for artworks representing global cultures from the ancient to the contemporary.

In this eight-session workshop you will find inspiration in the galleries and the collection with artist/educators Cat Palmer, Jim McGee, Laura Sharp Wilson and Sara Serratos. This workshop is for all skill levels and will guide you in creating artworks connected to pieces in the exhibition including phone photography & storytelling, abstract acrylic painting on wood, expressive architectural drawing, and conceptual art!

All materials provided. This workshop is free for anyone 55+, registration is required. We know things come up, but please plan carefully so we can keep this programming free! Please do not reserve a ticket if you cannot attend. The UMFA is offering multiple Creative Aging workshops this fall. Please only sign up for one.

Registration priority for this workshop will be given those who have never attended a UMFA Creative Aging Workshop.
