Join author/ illustrator Dasha Tolstikova for a character creating workshop. Through a series of writing and drawing exercises you will learn about what makes compelling characters and get on your way creating them. Please come prepared with drawing and writing materials.

Dasha Tolstikova is the author and illustrator of A Year Without Mom and The Bad Chair. In addition, she has illustrated The Jacket and Horizontal Parenting, among others. Dasha is currently illustrating The Adventures of Cipollino, an Italian novel from the 1950’s in which in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic produce, Cipollino fights the unjust treatment of his fellow vegetable townsfolk by the fruit royalty in the garden kingdom. Forthcoming from Enchanted Lion Books in 2024.
Dasha teaches at Queens College and lives in New York City.
