Create Iconic Posters: Learn DKNG’s Dynamic Approach to Graphic Design

Music posters are at the root of DKNG’s journey to becoming a sought after creative design studio in music and entertainment. In this Skillshare Live Session, you'll create alongside Dan and Nathan to learn their unique process for designing iconic posters with typography and illustration.

DKNG will be using a music poster as the case study for this session, but all of the techniques covered are applicable to a wide range of design and illustration projects. And as a special perk, everyone who signs up for the Live Session will receive DKNG’s new texture pack to apply to your own designs in Adobe Illustrator.

You’ll learn each step of the DKNG design process:

• Concepting and sketching initial ideas
• Vector illustration: Work from one of DKNG's templates to learn their key techniques
• Typography: Font selection, typographic hierarchy, and customizing type
• How to blend illustration and graphic design elements to create a one-of-a-kind finished product
• Adding textures to make your designs pop off the page

At the end of the session, you'll have a chance to ask DKNG your questions to gain insight into how their process can inform your own creative work.

Who is this for?

This Skillshare Live Session is for anyone who wants to grow their design skills and get inspired. If you are an illustrator, you will gain a deeper understanding of how to weave typography into your work. Graphic designers will learn how to incorporate illustration into their designs for a special touch. If you are a seasoned designer, you will walk away with new insights and inspiration for landing your dream clients.

To create along with DKNG, you will need:

• The current version of Adobe Illustrator
• A pencil and paper or tablet for sketching

Dan Kuhlken and Nathan Goldman were both drawn to music and design at an early age, but didnt combine their talents until 2005 when the duo founded a design studio with the goal of fusing these two creative avenues. The pair has found a niche in linking a personal and unique aesthetic to the worlds most talented musical artists.

With dynamically different skill sets ranging from fine art to film production, Dan and Nathan bring diverse talents and artistic perspectives to every project. All Skillshare Live Sessions are recorded. The recording will be shared with all ticket purchasers with 24-48 hours after the session.
