    Frequently asked questions

    What is felting?

Felting involves working with fibers, such as wool, and a barbed felting needle to mold the fibers into shapes. These can be 2-D or 3-D shapes, involving simple or radically complex patterns.

    What is a felting needle?

A felting needle is a thin barbed needle that is used to press, tangle, and shape fibers together into shapes. We will be using a hand-held singular needle, though there are many different types of needles.

    Can the needle poke me?

The short answer is yes, and even great felt artists get poked from time to time. We will use protective finger gloves to guard against this, though it can still happen. These pokes are more startling than painful and feel similar to a paper cut.
