Course Outline

1. Introduction (2:00 pm - 2:10 pm)

  • Introduction of instructor and course objectives.
  • Briefly discuss what design principles are and why they're important.
  • Introduce Canva as a design tool.

2. Understanding Design Principles (2:10 pm - 2:40 pm)

  • Discuss the key design principles (i.e. balance, contrast, hierarchy, repetition, alignment, and proximity) and why they are important for creating effective designs.
  • Show examples of designs that demonstrate the use of these principles.
  • Discuss how to apply these principles in your designs using Canva.

3. Creating a Brand Kit (2:40 pm - 3:00 pm)

  • Explain what a brand kit is and why it's important.
  • Discuss the key elements of a brand kit (i.e. logo, color scheme, font, imagery, etc.).
  • Show how to create a brand kit in Canva.

4. Adding Your Branding to Canva Designs (3:00 pm - 3:30 pm)

  • Demonstrate how to add your brand's logo and colors to Canva designs.
  • Show how to save your brand kit in Canva for easy access in future designs.
  • Discuss best practices for incorporating branding into designs.

5. Designing a Social Media Graphic (3:30 pm - 3:50 pm)

  • Walk through the process of creating a social media graphic in Canva, using the design principles and brand kit we discussed.
  • Discuss tips and tricks for creating effective social media graphics.

6. Q&A and Conclusion (3:50 pm - 4:00 pm)

Time for participants to ask any questions they may have.
