CrazySexyQueer
Event Information
Description
Join us this Sexual Assault Awareness Month for an exciting and fun open house to celebrate LGBTQ survivors of sexual violence in their resilience and empowered sexuality. Meet advocates, ask questions, connect with community and support. Learn about and combat stigma, myths, & pathologies that can harm our communities. Reclaim stories of survival in all their nuance and truth. There will be music, snacks, art, and other activities! We can’t wait to share this space with you.
This event is open to LGBTQ survivors of sexual violence, their networks, service providers, and supportive community members who want to learn more about LGBTQ experiences with sexual violence and the NW Network's supports.
Crazy is a word that many survivors of sexual violence have had mapped onto them against their will. It is a charged word, often a racialized and gendered way to dismiss our realities and experiences. Like the word queer, for many people, reclamation is a tool to take ownership, control, and power in language that has been used to ostracize, isolate, and shame us.
We invite you to come out and join us to dialogue about this: How has the label crazy impacted you and survivors in your life? What language gives you power in your story?
Please RSVP here on Eventbrite so we can plan accordingly.
