About this event

  • 2 hours 30 minutes

The Village Seamstress is excited to offer a workshop teaching the basics of textile art! The workshop will start with the host showing how the dye paste is made. The class will then all recieve dye paste that was prepared ahead of time to mix their chosen dye colors too. Each Participant will be given a 3x4' Canvas rug and a pair of gloves. I recommend that if you have long hair to tie it back during the workshop. There will be brushes, sponges, stencils, masking tape to aid in your design of your rug! Because we are using dye paste and not fabric paint the canvas will maintain its orignal texture and be machine washable. We will dye the rugs at the workshop and then you will wash at home before using. The dye will need to cure for up to 24 hours before being washed/rinsed. Each participant will recieve washing instruction to insure that your project is a success. Worried about it making a mess?! Dont fret each rug will be wrapped for transport so that it is easy to take home and you will not need to do anything with it until its time to rinse and wash!
