Meet, taste, smell many herbs used in first aid, growing in our gardens, and some that grow right in your own back yard, for treating stings, bites, bumps, bruises and injuries and more. We'll discuss over 30 of the herbs in the garden and their uses.
What you’ll learn
Learn to make herbal poultices and fomentations with fresh and dried herbs, mustard packs for congestion, powdered herbs for topical use, and for ingestion; healing salve, earache oil, toothache oil, digestive aids, and more. Learn what items to include in your first aid kit, and why.
What you'll make to take home
You'll be making earache oil, toothache oil, and an all purpose first aid salve.
We'll enjoy a buffet style lunch using many medicinal and culinary herbs and flowers. While at Ranch Runamuck explore our Herbal, Floral and Vegetable Gardens, say hello to the horses, Ladyhawke and Trubadour, stalk chickens, admire the peacocks and ducks, or just relax poolside with “A Taste of Runamuck” herbal tea. (Bring your sunhat and a swimsuit if you'd like to take a plunge in the pool! Only water based sunscreen , if any, please.)
Bring your notepad, however, we will provide numerous informational handouts, including recipes and formulas. Workshop led by Su Lukasha, owner of Herbal Med Rx. (Herbalmedrx.com). Please, no smoking or pets.
