CPR – Center for Performance Research is dedicated to supporting artists in the development of new work in contemporary dance and performance. CPR focuses its activities in three key areas: creative and professional development support; providing affordable space for artists; and public programming. Curated and open-call programs focus on providing artists with rehearsal, residency, and performance support, which generates time and space for research and dialogue, and creates opportunities to share work in a variety of contexts. CPR’s subsidized space rental program helps to ensure that artists can access CPR’s flexible studios and performance space at affordable rates to create and share their work. By presenting work to the public through performances, work-in-progress showings, salon-style discussions, exhibitions, and festivals, CPR exposes local audiences and its community to contemporary artistic practice and process.

The Back Pack presents: Noted, a fast-paced, movement-based, comedy extravaganza creatively combining non-spoken performance, music, dance, and media. The Back Pack’s imaginative style has been described as: “a live action cartoon”, “unmatched in its cleverness”, and “pure entertainment that will leave you with a smile on your face and a glow in your heart.” Noted is a fully original work utilizing The Back Pack's unique brand of storytelling, which features line drawings on large pads of paper strapped to the performers.Artists include Katie Kohler, Taylor Casas, Alexander Druzbanski, and Pete Betcher.The Back Pack is a dance comedy troupe that has been together performing whimsical non-spoken sketch shows on stage since their days at The University of Montana, beginning in 2008.  All of their work is original; created and performed entirely by the members of the group. From several years working in Austin, Texas, they have been awarded two B. Iden Payne awards, an Austin Critics Table Award, four Best of Fest accolades by Frontera Fest, and were among the Top 4 recognized acts in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. The Back Pack is currently creating in NYC, and Noted is the debut for the group in the city.The Back Pack Presents: Series is focused on workshopping new and old work in repertoire from season to season.  We use this model to explore new mediums, collaborate with other artists, reach more audience, and ultimately live to our full potential as performers. Mediums include, but are not limited to, clowning, puppetry, shadows, animation, foley, music composition, video, stop motion, and whatever else their hearts desire.
