@CPR | c.a.t.a.m.o.n Dance Group: Somewhere

CPR – Center for Performance Research is dedicated to supporting artists in the development of new work in contemporary dance and performance. CPR focuses its activities in three key areas: creative and professional development support; providing affordable space for artists; and public programming. Curated and open-call programs focus on providing artists with rehearsal, residency, and performance support, which generates time and space for research and dialogue, and creates opportunities to share work in a variety of contexts. CPR’s subsidized space rental program helps to ensure that artists can access CPR’s flexible studios and performance space at affordable rates to create and share their work. By presenting work to the public through performances, work-in-progress showings, salon-style discussions, exhibitions, and festivals, CPR exposes local audiences and its community to contemporary artistic practice and process.

<a href="https://catamon.com/en/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">c.a.t.a.m.o.n Dance Group</a> and choreographer Elad Schechter, in collaboration with <a href="https://theneighborhoodbk.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life</a>, present Somewhere, a new duet that uses sound, movement, and color to question two opposing human impulses: the desire to connect with our surroundings versus the desire to set the limits of our bodies. Somewhere takes us on a journey, exploring how we make distant islands into concrete realities and how we can rebuild the fallen walls around our own islands.After the performance, join c.a.t.a.m.o.n artistic director and choreographer Elad Schechter, The Neighborhood’s Rebecca Guber, and Chef Tali Friedman, the first woman to serve as head of the merchants association of Jerusalem’s Mahne Yehuda market, for a conversation on movement, art, and culture in the city of Jerusalem.Before the performance, c.a.t.a.m.o.n Dance Group will lead a <a href="https://www.cprnyc.org/events/catamon-gagaworkshop-mar30" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">GAGA workshop</a> at 5:30 P.M. The Neighborhood will be an inclusive and welcoming community hub with a physical Brooklyn location, and as we look for a permanent location we are holding pop-up programming at different spaces throughout Brooklyn.
