At ART YARD BKLYN we believe that art as a holistic endeavor allows us to delve into any topic imaginable. The practice of learning, creating, thinking, and discussing art nourishes people of all ages in body, mind, heart, and spirit. AYB builds and strengthens community through art, fostering a sense of civic responsibility and awareness of social justice, and creating a safe haven where everyone is treated with kindness and respect.

We are excited to present an exhibition featuring reimagined album covers for songs of revolution and change, all aimed at making the world a better place. At the Record Shop, we'll be throwing an incredible party to share our work and at the same time raise funds to support AYB programs.Come and be part of our vibrant and eclectic community of artists who continuously nurture and learn from one another. Your support means the world to us!

The artwork included in COVERS was created during ART YARD Summer Session, an intensive three-week artmaking program for artists of all ages. ART YARD Summer Session also serves as a training program for the behind-the-scenes work we do. In fact, this session, in which we re-imagined record covers for songs of protest and action, was taught by AYB Artist Abby Johnson -- who has been a participant since about age 7! Abby will provide music as the DJ for this event!

ART YARD Artists included in COVERS: Rai Clark, Abriel Gardener, Abby Johnson, Delphine Levenson, Meridith McNeal, Eden-Nicole Moore, Elizabeth Morales Romero, Ajani Russell, Karla Stangel Prickett, V Tineo, and William Sterling Walker.

Our event will take place at the Record Shop, a quirky shop offering an eclectic mix of unusual rock, funk, soul and jazz titles to meet all your vinyl needs, located at 360 Van Brunt St, Red Hook, Brooklyn, NY 11231.
